Paul Criner, Vice President of Criner Remodeling, started with the company shortly after graduating high school. He started as a helper, working his way up to becoming a project manager, then to a production manager in charge of all Criner Remodeling’s projects. He has since moved into sales and design where he often uses his experiences in the field to assist his current design work. Throughout his career he has been committed to continuing education through TNCC and the National Association of Home Builders, becoming a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, Certified Green Professional, and a Certified Graduate Remodeler.

He has served in the following organizations:

Robert Criner, president of Criner Remodeling, founded the company in 1977 and has led the company to grow into a successful and profitable business for over 45 years. Criner began working for a remodeling contractor in the summer of 1972, when he started his own one-man operation. Today the company has a team of over a dozen professionals in the remodeling industry. Criner is constantly involved in both the remodeling industry and the community and has given back in numerous ways both locally and nationally.

He has served in the following organizations:

Ben enjoys seeing all the different steps of a remodeling project come together into one beautiful completion.

Outside of the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Sarah was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia.

As an interior designer, she enjoys creating functional and aesthetic designs, unique to each client’s wants and needs. She enjoys being able to collaborate with other talented people to help bring designs to life.

Outside of work Sarah enjoys going to the beach, and drawing, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Heidi has been involved in accounting in the construction industry for many years. She’s worked in civil and marine construction in the past and most recently worked for a new construction company. She moved to this area from Seattle, Washington just last year. She brought her dog with her, Bo a precious 5-year-old hound mix. Together they enjoy doing agility and scent-work. When Bo’s too tired from running around, Heidi enjoys kayaking and crocheting. She has the great ability to keep calm and keep her humor intact during times of stress.

Doug Grzeskowiak started learning construction at the age of 14 and grew up in Buffalo, NY. He has over 35 years of experience both in construction and in remodeling. Doug started working at Criner Remodeling in 2009.

His favorite part of his job is watching a job go from rough to finish. Doug’s hobbies include woodworking, fishing, golfing, playing poker, spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up.

Alex Hill was born in in the small town of Mt. Crawford, VA.

He started his career in 2006, building custom homes, and has transitioned to the remodeling industry.

Recently, he moved to the Williamsburg area with his young family. He and his wife, Claudia, have a boy, Noah (3 years old), and a girl, Gabriela (7 months). When he’s not busy changing diapers or working for Criner Remodeling he enjoys working in his shop building custom furniture.

What he likes most about working at Criner Remodeling is that he gets to do something different every day, and there is always a new and unique project.

Nate

Project Manager

Nate was born and raised in Brookhaven NY and moved to this area in ’93. He started working in the construction industry in ’96, and his favorite part of the job is turning the designer’s vision into a reality. When Nate is not at work he loves spending time with his three kids: Odin; Kase; and Hayden. He also enjoys fishing and camping. He’s very proud of his abilities as a carpenter and as a father raising his three children.

Jett was born and raised in Gloucester VA. He began his career in construction in 2019 and started with Criner in 2023. In his free time he enjoys building large-scale LEGO models of historical Navy ships. Jett’s favorite part of the job is bringing the Criner team’s beautiful designs to life. Coming from a large family, being part of the Criner team feels like home and gives him a sense of pride in the work he accomplishes.

Josh was born and raised in Gloucester VA. He began his career in construction in 2022 and started with Criner in 2024. Josh’s favorite part of the job is the people that he gets to work with on the Criner team as well as trade partners and homeowners.  He loves being in a natural environment, whether that’s the mountains or the beach. He is very excited to share this love of nature with his future son; he’s expected to arrive in December. With great things on the horizon Josh is excited about the future!
